between India, Pakistan key to everlasting peace
CM lays foundation of Rs. 9cr Ladoora-Juhama brigde,
Baramulla, February 02- Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today
strongly reiterated his consistent stand for resumption of
Indo-Pak dialogue so that all issues are resolved amicably. He
said that the solutions of all such complex problems, which have
resulted in prolonged turmoil, are also addressed so that the
peaceful atmosphere prevails and we are able to usher the State
towards peace and prosperity.
Mr. Omar Abdullah was addressing a mammoth public meeting at
Ladoora, Rafiabad, after laying foundation of 182 Mt long
Ladoora-Juhama bridges over the river Jehlum. The bridge would
cost Rs. 9 crore.
Mr. Omar lamented that on different pretexts vested interests
were exploiting budding youth and use them to supplement their
personal political gains. He said these forces of violence have
made fortunes and their kith and kin are enjoying plump posts in
the Government or different institutions abroad. They have
learnt to live luxurious life by exploiting youngsters to
indulge in anti social and anti people activities, he said,
observing they feel sadistic pleasure by bringing normal life to
halt as a result of which poor people, vendors, daily rated
workers and others suffer.
Mr. Omar Abdullah appealed to the people to frustrate the
designs of such forces and extend their full support to the
Government in steering Jammu and Kashmir in to prosperity and
development.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Coalition Government has
always supported dialogue between India and Pakistan and said
this dialogue process should continue and be purposeful to find
out permanent solution of all the issues. He said that quiet
diplomacy is going on with Hurriyat leaders without any
condition. However, he said this process needs to be
accelerated. Mr. Omar Abdullah said that he has made it clear to
the Prime Minister that the youth have not taken guns for Paani,
Sadak, Bijli, Taleem, etc. but they want a permanent solution of
all the issues.
The Chief Minister said that time has come to work untidily for
restoration of complete peace in the State, as the people have
seen much destruction and killings during the past 20 years. “We
have to work now for peace, prosperity and development”, he
maintained and asserted not to rest till complete peace and
prosperity is restored in the State.
Regarding the development of Rafiabad, the Chief Minister
assured the people that the bridge will be completed in two
years which will connect district Kupwara with National Highway
via Rafiabad and Juhama. He announced that a tourism project
costing Rs. 8 crore has been approved which would prove helpful
for the youth of this area with regard to employment
opportunities.
Minister for R&B, Mr. Mr. G.M. Saroori also addressed the
gathering and said that various bridges in the district
Baramulla are under construction at a cost of Rs. 25 crore. He
said special road-network package for rural areas is on the
anvil.
Member Parliament, Mr. Sharif-ud-din Shariq, in his address
appealed the people to keep their children away from violence
and stone pelting as violence has never solved any problem.
Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul in his address, on
the occasion highlighted the programmes and policies of the
Government and sought cooperation of people for their successful
implementation.
The Chief Minister, on his arrival, was given rousing reception
and people of Juhama had to reach to the public meeting by
boats. The earlier wooden bridge had collapsed before 1947 and
till date Rafiabad and Juhama had no communication facilities. |
